I have heard that the big backlog with passports is not so bad now as it was a month or so ago, so 10 weeks may be a reasonable estimate by now.. You can check the status on www. travel.state.gov but it is not very informative.

Dusie
The person we applied with told us 10 weeks. It came in 10 1/2 weeks. The peak time is usually Feb- March. So it should come in plenty of time. Have you checked online for the status yet? If you can't get info online you may have to wait about three weeks from date of application for it to show up in the system. Try not to panic. Just keep checking. Good Luck.

Depends on who you're getting the passpot from

Don't worry, if it doesn't come in 10 weeks, there is a number to call and you can expedite your passport for $60 and they will over night it to you. 877-487-2778. Good luck)

This is the time that everyone hurrys and get them, but I really doubt that it will take 16 weeks. That is the extreme most it will take. It usually takes about 8 weeks. Just be patient. You can always call and check the status.

Not sure, in Canada we can check with our local passport office not sure if you are a US citizen or not but check if you can. In Canada we don't require a passport for Cancun , check with your travel agent

I got one in an amazing two weeks, but that was before 9.11. 2007 is a busy year for passports because now Americans need a passport to go to Canada and other places where they did not used to need a passport. You were cutting it close, you should have applied earlier. Hopefully it will arrive in time.
