I don't recommend. I indicate Brazil, except Rio de Janeiro.

Resort towns are built and operated to attract foreign tourists. They are safe. Drink bottled water and watch out for street food stands. Taking too many different foods and drink can make you sick. Late nights and too many Margaritas are the culprits.

Yes, the resorts are safe. Just make sure that you check with the people at the hotel on places to go. You don't want to just go roaming around without knowing where you are going. As for the water, they might say it is safe to drink, but just because it is different from what you are use to, it might make you sick. Buy bottled water just to be safe (most supply it to you in your rooms). If you are brushing your teeth, you'll be fine using tap water. Ask your doctor about getting pills for preventing getting sick while over there.

my husband and I stayed in Xtapa and Zhiuateneo...and traveled all the way down to Acupalco...It was great! no problmes w/ the water! Now The tequila is another story!

youll be fine in the resort, the water is not dangerous or anything like that, it can be safe but you can get sick because Mexico has different filtration system than the one the US has, that is why some people would get sick

Pagan Dan
It is unusual, around the world, for tap water to be safe to drink.

Many of the higher-end (more expensive) resorts in Mexico purify their own water, and others supply bottled water.

Tap water is safe for showers, cleaning your teeth, and all that--just don't drink it. Have beer instead (cheaper than soda), or exotic fruit juice.

The reason tourists get sick in Mexico is that their systems are not used to the local bacteria. Mexican people often get sick when they visit the USA or Canada.

yes mexico resorts are completly safe , their elegant for the tourists!!!

The resorts in mexico are safe... the water, not so much. At some places I have stayed they have a water filtration system, but I don't know if they all do. And even then I wouldn't risk it. It wouldn't be any fun to get sick on a vacation. Drink only bottled water when in Mexico.
