Hola. No, you don't. Jan. 8, you do. See the information I've included below.
You will need a Photo ID, and a Government issued Birth Certificate. If your name has changed since your BC was issued, you must document any changes.
Saludos, Tim |

My family and I were in Cabo San Lucas for 5 days in 2005, we had our passports but were never asked for them....we drove from T.J. all the way down to Cabo, it was an awesome trip. |

I just read in the paper today that you absolutely need your passport to go to Mexico. Even if you are a baby, the paper said they are really going to enforce it. |

Yes. If, I'm sure you are, you're going to stay longer than 72 hours you must have a passport. They, I hear, take quite a while to get so plan way ahead. |

There are many conflicting stories. Technically, you do not need one until 2007. However, I would recommend having one. Your customs experience will be much smoother. With a passport you will most likely go thru customs quicker and easier. |

January 1 2007 you will need one. If you are there and back by then, you need photo ID and birth certificate. But if you can go get a passport now, it is so much easier. The closer it gets the crazier the passport offices will be. |

No; at least until 1/1/07. Until then you can enter Mexico with a photo ID and your ORIGINAL birth cirtificate. |

No, but passports are easy to get anyway. It's the visa (if you need one) that you have to worry about. |

No, you do not. It is recommended however. What is required is a government issued ID (such as a driver's license) and your birth certificate. The U.S. State Department has more info if you want to check the link. |
