All-Inclusive will provide you with unlimited food/drinks. Most resorts have at least five restaurants and anytime you go to eat you just arrive and eat everything is included in your price. You eat and drink at will. It includes all your drinks alcoholic and non. You just go up to the bar and tell them what kind of drink you want and that's it...no putting it on a tab or paying for it. All-inclusive is the best way to go. Most of the resorts have mini bars in the room with liquor (tequila, rum, brandy, vodka) and beer, soda, water, snacks so you have access to that and they restock it for free everyday. All-inclusive is everything there isn't anything it doesn't include.
The busiest in CancĂșn I would say is probably from spring break time (starts around March) and stays pretty packed until September. It kinda of works like this...March-April is spring breakers, then May-August/Sept. is mostly European and American tourists, then in the winter months from October-Feb. it's a lot of Latin tourist, such as a lot of people from South America come to CancĂșn during those months. But, there is always a crowd in CancĂșn it's just not as packed in the later summer months and winter months.
As for as tips and things to do...there is a lot...
Don't drink the water that isn't in the resorts. Try to stay with the bottled water. When you ride the bus becareful, they drive wild and when you get on to the bus and pay grab ahold of something, because they are on a tight schedule and will take off when the last person has payed whether you are standing up still or not. Tip a few dollars to the bartenders and maids at the resort and you will experience a far better vacation and they will treat you like your best friend. All of the people that work in the resorts are hardworking and very friendly people and they appreciate when you notice them. It's best to ride the bus...it's only around 7 pesos (70 cents US dollars). They have taxis, but if you don't know how to bargain with people it can be expensive. The bus is the cheapest most reliable way to get around. You could literally pay the 7 pesos and ride it all day...they never kick you off.
If you like to drink and party you definitely need to visit CoCo Bongo's, Senor Frogs, The City (it's the name of a club). Even if you don't drink still go to CoCo Bongo's they put on an amazing show...kind of like a cirque de solei type thing where people dance and swing from the ceiling. It's really good. Also, you must go on the Captain Hook Pirate Cruise. It's two pirate ships that go out into the Caribbean and on the way out you get a nice lobster/steak dinner, then on the way pack to port the two ships converge and put on a pirate show. They swing from ship to ship and fight with swords and fake guns. It's really neat to see. If you like history/cultural things a good place to go is Chichen-Itza and/or Tulum. Those are ancient Mayan ruins. Other fun things are Xel-ha and X-caret. They are ecological parks where you can see nature and beautiful animals and swim with dolphins. It's really beautiful and you will get some great pictures. Also, riding sea-doos in the Caribbean is a must also...it's a lot of fun!
Also, go to the little flea-markets the locals have. They are right in CancĂșn's hotel zone and they are great for getting things of Mexican Culture. A very nice, romantic restaurant you must visit is Lorenzillo's. It has the best seafood in the world and it's caught fresh and brought in daily. Other restaurants are Carlos n' Charlies and Pat O'Briens. A few fun ones you might like are Bubba Gump's (from the movie Forrest Gump, of course) and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. Those are just a few things....Like I mentioned there is so much to do in CancĂșn it would take hours to tell you about.
Other than that just relax and enjoy your time with your hubby. My favorite thing to do...is just sit on the white powdery sand and watch the turquoise, blue waves roll in and sip on a corona (like the commercials). It's perfect!!! Oh and at night go for a walk on the beach it's romantic and you can see awesome sea turtles that come up on the shore at night to lay eggs and you can see baby sea turtles trying to make their way to the ocean. It's a very cool thing to witness. Enjoy your time...CancĂșn is a blast and you will fall in love with it!!! |

just remember not to eat everything you can get your hands on. Sometimes people get sick cause they're not used to the food there. And you also might wanna stay away from sea food unless you've had it before in Mexico. I don't know much about the hotels but the ones I've stayed at include shampoo and towels and TV's in the room. All the ones I've stayed at have really hard beds. I've only been there in the summer and it always rains when I go so idk how the weather would be right now. And remember to bring a camera your gonna wanna take alot of pictures. |

You'll love Cancun if you like hotels with organised events (e.g. pool volleyball tournaments, talent quest nights, etc.) All hotels in Cancun seemed to be all-inclusive, which means you have to wear what I call a 'hospital wrist band' (each hotel has their own colour). All food in restaurants is inclusive, as are cocktails and drinks (the pina coladas contained more crushed ice than anything though). I went there in 2005 on way to Cuba. There was lots of hurricane damage. There were workmen working 24 hours outside hotel room - like trying to sleep on a construction site! You can visit sites like Chichen Itza from there - very impressive. If you're going to Mexico, you have to visit Mexico City, and also the Chiapas region is very interesting, especially if you like Mayan ruins. |

I went to Cozumel and absolutely loved it. It was also my first time to Mexico and Stayed at an all-inclusive and also loved it. I didn't have to worry about anything. It included all food, beverages(all and I didn't mind that they were "a little" watered down seeing that drinking all day it helps to pace yourself), shows, and non-motorized water sports. It also included all of our tips. Right now in Mexico it is the low season due to hurricane season. High season is from Dec-April Mayish. I went in July and had the best weather you can imagine. I booked my trip through travelocity and you can look at the hotels on the site and each hotel will have listed what it includes. I would go to the Mayan Riviera, Playa del Carmen beautiful beaches and ruins. Also pretty cheap if you go on your via bus about $3 one way from cancun to playa and another 3 to some of the ruins in the area. The ferry is also only about $12 pp to go over to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen. I did a lot of googling and it was well worth it. One of the best trips I've had in my life and it was affordable. I know this seems all over the place but there is some much to say and do I hope this helps a bit and have a great trip!! |

book at one of the top ten hotels on tripadvisor.com
the food and drinks will be better.
I stayed at the RIU Palace Las America's and it was gorgeous and the food was great for an all inclusive, way better then the 3 star hotels i've stayed at on previous trips.
the jungle tour is fun if you like snorkeling and driving your own speedboat. |
