Bugs in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico?
I'm going on a vacation soon to stay at a resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. My mom heard from a friend that there are lots of mosquitoes and other bugs around there, and that they sell bottles of bug repellent for $50 each? I wanted to know if this is true, and what seasons would be the worst for mosquitoes/bugs?
Thanks!
It is a semi-tropical area so yes there are bugs. It is more likely that your Mom's friend meant 50 pesos each for a little bottle of bug repellent - about $3.00. If some enterprising person is charging outrageous prices, just walk to a little grocery store and buy some there.
The rainy season - June to October - has more bugs than the dry season. If you avoid perfumes and use a little citronella bug repellent, you should be fine.

Hola. Someone is pulling your leg. Or they meant 50 pesos which would be like 4 dollars. As far as the worse season, its usually after the rains which happens from june to october.

I just got back from Playa del carmen 2 days ago and never saw a mosquito. We took some Off with us in our check baggage but never needed it. The weather was great. I do believe they meant 50 pesos and not dollars and you will probably be able to buy some right at the resort if you forget yours. Have FUN!!!

Any resort I have stayed at has sprayed the grounds at night.I take Avon Skins o Soft to use and am never bothered by anything.I have never seen them selling anything like but rrepellent. Sun Tan lotion is expensive so be sure to pack yours and take high mumbered one too.
