Cabo San Lucas?

I am planning on taking a vacation this summer to Cabo San Lucas Mexico. Does anyone have any suggestions about hotels? I want a hotel that is nice and clean but not TOO expensive and it would be nice if it was around shops, restaurants, etc. I am thinking about the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort and Spa and Hotel Finisterra. Anyone have any comments on those 2 hotels? Also, I am planning on going through a travel agent. Is this the best way to go and do they offer you deals? Thank you so much for your help!

We always stay at the Marina Fiesta. Reasonably priced and well kept. Great pool & people. It is right at the marina, in downtown. A two minute walk to the GREAT mall. And most importantly, eight minute walk to The Cabo Wabo Cantina! ;)

here's a couple links:

Cabo bound this fall & can't wait!

Lisa!
My cousin stays at the Finisterra twice a year. Ive been there twice. It's a beautiful hotel. Beautiful views. We always walk downtown to clubs, restaurants, and shopping. I also enjoyed the playa grande next door to finisterra.
I've never gone through a travel agent, so that I don't know.
Have fun!

Both Resorts are very nice.
Finisterra is walking distance to downtown Cabo San Lucas, so no need to take a taxi or rent a car, the beach is nice to walk, but no to swim.
Hacienda del Mar is bigger and cozy, you are able to swim on the beach, but is 10 minutes driving to downtown, either by taxi, shuttle or renting a car.
If you want to explore and go shopping every day, you better be in Finisterra. If you want to relax and away from the crowd, Hacienda del Mar is a very good option.
Check some reviews and compare prices and packages, I'm affiliated with Expedia, but Travelocity, Yahoo travel and Trip Advisor are very good sources of information.

I am familiar with both hotels.

The Finisterra: is a better location. It is walking distance to the Marina and downtown Cabo where it is "happening"with a decent choice of restaurants and night life. The Finisterra is on the Pacific Ocean which means you cannot swim there, so you have to take a cab (US $10) to Medano Beach or to any other resort on the Sea of Cortez. (it is about 20-25 minutes walk if you want to save the $10)

Sheraton Hacienda del Mar is a more upscale property, but it is on the Tourist Corridor, about a 10-minute drive to downtown Cabo. The hotel has a shuttle to take you there for $10, but it ends at 6:00pm. After 6:00pm you will end up taking a regular cab for US $20. This can add up. The beach at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar is better because it is on the Sea of Cortez where you can swim.

Bottom line: if you want a peaceful time in a nicer resort on a nice beach go with the Sheraton Hacienda but if you want to be close to downtown and have an active nightlife, go with the Finisterra.

sheratonj its much better than finisterra, but finisterra its closed to0 the action area in cabo, I would be in finisterra, because you just sleep at night in hotels. About travel agents, I like rather to travel by myself, I do not know where you are, so let me know and I shall tell you, I live in cabo, I can give you a nice advice

marte cortez.. very clean, nothing fancy, but is located right down town, 1 block from Cabo Wabo, or Giggling Marlin, 2 blocks from marina, it is in the heart of all the shopping. my wife and I stayed there in february 7 nights was $400

I stayed at the Fiesta American Grand Hotel. It was nice however you would need to take a shuttle to downtown. Sorry I know this isn't much help. Someone else planned this trip for me but I was quite pleased. The staff of the Hotel was very courteous and resort was absolutely wonderful.

Hola. Both choices are really nice. I think BlueCabo summed it up best. Listen to his advice.

Try this website to check out each of the resorts

Seriously, Cabo is a fantastic destination and almost all hotels and resorts in the area are fantastic. It all depends on what you prefer to do and see while you are down here.
