Can I bring my tripod on an airplane to Mexico?

I plan on checking in my tripod. When I get to customs and get a "red light" will this be considered a weapon? Is a tripod allowed as a carry on? Thanks.

You can carry it on, you will go thru screening and the x-ray machine will see thru the bag and security will see what it is and you will be on your way to Mexico.

I think so but every airline has its own rules. Check with the airline you're flying. They should have that info posted on their website but you can call them and ask too. Have fun in Mexico:)

If you're planning on using your tripod at archaeological site, please note:
The use of tripods at all archaeological sites and some museums requires a permit. If you want to use a tripod you will need to apply for special permission from INBA (the government department that manages archaeological sites and some museums) and there will be a significant fee and plenty of paperwork involved. If you are outside Mexico, contact your local Mexican Consulate for information and details. These sites offer a "package hold" facility for people carrying tripods, where they can be left until you leave the site or museum.

Of course you can. My uncle does it all the time but make sure when you arrive to mexico to take care of your things because sometimes when you get out of the airplane people make you give them what ever you have. good luck on your flight to mexico.

You can not carry it on.. you will have to keep it with your main luggage

Dukklord
Why wouldn't they let you? If you aren't sure why don't you call the airport and ask them yourself.

WildRockMan
Call the airline customer service and ask them!
