Can I drive in Mexico?

I'm 16 and I live in Canada but I'm also a mexican citizen and I have a learner's permit from Quebec would I be able to drive legally in Mexico?

Mad Mex
Your driving permit is not valid in Mexico. Since you are 16 and a Mexican you can get a permit in Mexico in a few hours. If you get a Mexican permit you can drive any private car, but you will not be able to rent a car. You have to check also the insurance policy of the car you are driving for coverage.

Good luck

wow. typically, car rental companies will not permit you to drive a rental until you are 25. if you are taking your own car, go ahead.

Complementing Mad Mex Answer, you have to have an Adult signing for you permit. This would say, that this adult will respond for every accident that you may cause. According to the place or city, is the difficulty to get the Permit. If you are in a big city or medium size city, it will more difficult. But if you are in a small town, there will be very easy. Be careful, Driving in Mexico could be more dangerous that in USA or Canada, here is more aggressive driving. Take care...

I'd have to say no... If you were fully licensed to drive in Quebec you'd be fine, but a learners permit does not give you the ability to drive in Mexico.

PETardo
madmex is right, and so is the answer below his... you can easily get a mexican permit but you will need an adult signature..... you wont be able to rent a car.

If you by any chance happen to get a car and you are in mexico city, i would advice you not to drive it. Is not that people are crazy... its just that people drive like crazy.

No, you need to have a mexican permit, and no, you cannot do whatever you like in Mexico, we have a goverment, laws, and a lot of cops.

LADodgers
I just came back from Mexico. I think you need a license to get a permit and you need full auto insurance to get in.

Sethmetal37
Sure, it is not a problemo( snicker, snicker)
