It's very, VERY dangerous to cross the US border illegally. Drug gangs basically rule the parts of mexico along the border. The mexican government is attempting to take that territory back and failing miserably. They continuously victimize illegals. You most certainly will be robbed. You may be raped, possibly kidnapped and held for ransom (you definitely will be kidnapped if you look white) and there is a good chance of being murdered. The problem is so bad that the US justice department has severe warnings to American citizens to stay the hell out of mexico or risk being kidnapped. A prominant mexican expert on avoiding being kidnapped....WAS KIDNAPPED. No one has heard anything and it is feared he has been murdered.
The US authorities only have the right to protect you on the US side of the border. The mexican authorities have almost completely lost the ability to protect people on your side. Neither country has been effective in stopping this.
Botton line....stay the hell away from the border. It's very dangerous now.

if your stuck and lost all your paperwork go to the USA consulate there all over..or if your just out for kicks to see what it's like crossing the boarder with a coyote like so many desperate Mexicans feel they have to,go for it, it's only about 2000.00 American and there's a 3 in 10 chance you'll be raped robbed or killed good luck
