Which state are you travelling from?. There are several destination spots about 5 hours from the Nogales border (i.e. Arizona) that is less hectic and very laid back.
One is San Carlos which is in the Sonora state. Now if you are willing to go further south, I would recommend Mazatlan in the state of Sinaloa, there are a lot more activities and cultural things you can see, I especially love all the traditional haciendas.
I am living in Mexico right now (for work) so if you need additional information, e-mail me.
Its important to know which area you are closer to, the east coast (facing the Gulf of Mexico) or the west coast (Gulf of California). |

Riviera Maya is a wonderful place for families. The resorts are beautiful and relaxing and don't have that over-crowded feel. There is lots to do and plenty of places where children are welcome. I'd recommend either the Palladium White Sands or the Iberostar Tucan, Paraiso Lindo or the Paraiso Maya. They are tropical, lush and VERY family friendly. Puerto Vallarta/ Jalisco is also beautiful but it has more of an old world Mexico feel and is better for romantic get-aways and such. Cabo is also lovely but very expensive and doesn't appeal much to people with families. And Cozumel, also very nice but is better suited for divers and snorkelers. There are some hotels (Iberostar Cozumel) that have kids clubs for children ages 4 to 12 but I personally would not recommend Cozumel as a first choice. |

Cozumel is a great choice....Stay away from Cancun.....Also, make sure to take pesos, or you will pay too much in dollars... |

On south baja you can find Todos Santos and San jose del cabos. Other place is Hol box, it's a pacefull island in the mexican carive near to Yuctan 100km from Cancun. There is also in veracruz a beach named tecolutla. you can look in michoacan for el faro and la manzanilla. |

Any of the above. In Los Cabos maybe by this time you could see whales and Holbox is nice but very far away.
Cancun is nice and springbreak has ended (I think).
Gracias and enjoy! |

Everywhere in Mexico is family friendly, but the biggest cities are best because there is lots more to do. Ex: Guaralajara, Jalisco...or Manzanillo, Colima. Check out amazon for tourist info in those cities, you will be happy to know that you can have lots of fun and its not expensive! Happy traveling! |

Cancun not during spring break, Xcaret is a nature park a hour from the hotels in Cancun and they all sell excursions to it. |

Certainly Zihuanatejo, a real pearl. Peace, relax, great seafood MMmmmmm ... , accommodations for every budget. Protected bay and the Pacific just minutes away. Dolphins swimming in the small bay. Warm people. Perfect environment. Love it! |

Play del Carmen can be very peaceful and tranquil it’s a great place just to rest at the beach. If you decide you need a little more action I really would suggest one of the all-inclusive resorts in Cancun everything is included even water skiing and snorkeling which kids love.
