To be realistic, Ferrari is not accurate. You can come to Mexico as a tourist for 6 months. On that tourist status, you cannot work or attend college. If you wish to be a student or work here , you must apply for a student or work visa. The ONLY way to get a work visa is to find an emloyer who will hire you and write a letter stating that he cannot fill that job with a Mexican national. Then after MUCH paperwork, money and time, you MAY be granted a work visa. Usually, work visas are only granted to highly educated, highly skilled people. To get a visa to /RESIDE in Mexico you must have documented income of at least 1,200 US dollars a month from a pension or bank account in the United States. It is very difficult for a young person to come live and work in Mexico. Jobs pay VERY little. So...yes , you CAN come, but to live here and support yourself is very difficult. Most foreigners living in MEXICO ARE EITHER WEALTHY, RETIRED, OR BOTH. I have seen college educated people come here and think they could get a job easily, not knowing anything about getting a work visa, not knowing, teachers make about $300.00 a month..really unprepared. The person who said there are no jobs in Mexico is right. America is called the "land of opportunity" for a reason. If you love Mexico...get an education in the states, get a good job, save and prepare, and you may be able to live in Mexico in the future.

Why? There aren't any jobs down there. That's why they're all coming up here.

Yes you can.

You can, but I would live near the border so you can work in the states.
That way you can stay with a tourist visa for 6 months and make sure you like it.

Chinguis Jan
Of course.
