man with the golden gun
YES........... but they give you change in mexican pesos

MiMi
Yes, just pay attention to the exchange rate because you don't get American money back for change, they give you pesos. Have a calculator handy for quick reference.

snow_dog_babe
Yeah u can..........it is the neighbouring country.

midnite_oc
this is a yes and no answer. it really depends what part of mexico you are going to. if you go to any of the border cities it is really common to pay in american dollars, any of the tourist attractions like Cancun, Acapulco...also take dollars. generally every other state does not take dollars so make sure to change them into pesos

hotdoggiegirl
Yes, but I would get the money changed over unless you're fast with conversions in your head.

yes, but you get more for your dollar when you convert it over to theirs....

Yes, but i was advised to get some pesos as well. going to mexico in June.

carlos o
The only place where they acept dollars is in Cancun and In Cozumel, anywhere else you will have to change them for pesos

Around Tijuana and Northern Baja California, then yes, I would use USD all the time.

Away from that area then yes, they are often accepted, but the exchange rate is rarely that favourable. Assuming you are visiting the country in its own right, I would just get Mexican Pesos direct from an ATM on arrival and use those instead.

yes u can. most of the real tourist places allow u to use dollars. check to see the exchange rate to avoid getting ripped off.

If it is a place like a hotel or a retail store that has a known name like Wal-Mart or Costco you can use dollars, nevertheless if you are in some of the stores that you can find in the corners or in street stands i would recommend to use pesos because sometimes these people are really ignorant and dont even know what a dollar is.

ohh yes u definately can. I would try to change it if possible if not dont worry. Just be careful because some places will charge an extra 50 cents or a dollar when they take your american $$ in comparison to mexican $$.

JAM123
Yes you can but i would advise you to change them at the bank.!!!
Enjoy Mexico, friendly people and beautiful coast.!!!

colly wobbles
yes i work at bureau de exchange but they prefer american travellers cheques

boomedly
It is the only currancy you can take into Mexico as the Mexican peso is a closed currancy. The going rate is ten pesos to the us dollar. they will give you change in pesos which you may leave behind as you cannot cash it in anywhere else. Enjoy your trip.

chikita4652
Yes, some places, but you have to be careful because if you dont know mexican money, they will make you pay more. You can also go to a "Casa de Cambio" where they can change dollars into mexican money.

Oceanbreeze
Yes, you can, but I believe if you convert the money you will save more.. the American dollar is worth more.. If it is a long trip..bring American Travellers Checks for vacation.

zion
i don't think there is a country that u can not

gypsy

yes, they are accepted happily. Was there not long ago and never bothered changing any money. Used dollars to buy everything, everywhere in Mexico.

East Texan
