Trick question.
IF YOU FLY, you must have a passport. Period.
If you drive across the border, you can currently get away with your driver's license and birth certificate, but that will change on June 1, 2009.
If you take a cruise line, check with them. Many have already shifted to the "need a passport" requirement.
Now, if you have to renew that, you will have to apply in person at a post office, HOWEVER, you can use that expired passport instead of a birth certificate.
You will also need two new passport pictures
Two checks for the payments
They need to see your driver's license
And the completed (but not signed) DS-11 form. That form can be obtained at the website travel.state.gov.
it is taking about four weeks to process an application |

You need to get a new one or else you won't be able to get back in the country. I mean you could if you pay the big bucks. I would suggest that you get a new one now cause the price on them keep rising. I go to mexico city every summer but I couldn't this year because my passport needed to be updated. |
