If you want a great nightlife there is no better nightlife that what CancÃºn offers. It's the best in the world. The beaches are gorgeous in CancÃºn also. DON'T waste your time and money with the DR it's not a great place at all and you will be very disappointed. The DR is still considered a third world country and very poor. Most people don't speak English at all there. Jamaica is okay, but there isn't a nightlife like that of CancÃºn. CancÃºn, in my opinion, is ten times better than Jamaica. If you want a great vacation go to CancÃºn you will have the time of your life. Enjoy your trip!

Cancun is the nicest and the safest of the bunch. It is a very nice area, and tourists can walk the streets safely. There is so much to do there, also. The beaches are gorgeous, and there are the Mayan ruins that are fascinating. You can get great deals there in condos- try www.stayincancun.com

I've never been to Puerto Plata, but between Negril and Cancun I suggest Negril. I've been there quite a few times and the beach there is awesome

Ive been to the Dominican Republic this summer, Its really nice if your staying at a resort which im guessing your doing. Ive never been to Cancun but it seems really turisty and people go there just to get wasted n have a good time. so i guess it depends on what kind of vacation your looking for.

Negril, Jamaica offers "zero" nightlife are you serious!?!?!? You must have NEVER been to Negril because that statement is absolutley FALSE.

I partied my @$$ off in Negril.... Jamaican's know how to party. Then again so do Mexicans :) Never been to DR so I cant speak on that. I've been to Cancun and Negril and from personal experience you'll have a bomb @$$ time in either place.

Price would be the tie breaker between these two with Mexico coming out on top. Jamaica is pretty pricey :(

The answer is pretty simple based on what you are looking for,

1. Beaches
All 3 have good beaches with Negril probably being the best and Cancun second and Puerto Plata third.

2. Nightlife
Cancun is by leaps and bounds the best nightlife in the Caribbean. Some of the night clubs like Coco Bongos and Daddy' Os are world famous. In fact coco bongos has been featured on E-entertainment TV, MTV and a bunch of other TV channels.

Negril and Puerto Plata offer basically zero in the way of nightlife and in fact you will not even want to leave the resort you are staying at.

Based on your desires Cancun should be your choice. One poster mentioned that Cancun is touristy, well guess what all 3 are tourist destinations and that is why you are going to tour the area.
