Prices vary, depending if your hitting a happy hour etc, I wouldn't worry if you don't eat Seafood, Cancun is very Americanized so you won't have an issue if you don't like seafood or Mexican, the snorkeling trips are always worth it and they offer a variation, and cabs .....not really worth it anyway as the buses run by the minute.

Have fun!

Most places had a $20 cover charge and a supposed "free all you can drink". No such thing as free down there... you'll be waiting forever by the bar if you are going to be tipping a dollar at a time. Your best bet is grab a waiter at the club and each person in your group gives him/her a twenty dollar bill, which depending on the number of people you are with, can end up being several weeks salary for the waiter. Do this and you'll never have to worry about drinks for the rest of the night.

I never did snorkel there, I can't comment.

There's all sort of things to eat there. They even got a Burger King if all else goes wrong. One thing I did down there was go into the inner city of Cancun away from all the clubs and hotels. We know spanish so getting around was easy. There are some restaurants outside the tourist area where you eat like a king or queen for like 10 bucks.

Cabs are good for finding out where to purchase "vintage" items. But buses are much cheaper for getting around, but take much longer.

Carpe Diem!

Hi,
Well I've been there three times. I like the All Inclusive resorts. That way everything is taken care of for you Lodging, Food, Drinks, Entertainment. All you have to do is roll out of bed, take a shower and party.
The Snorkeling around the Cancun area is OK, the water off the beaches is shallow. It will take you at least 200 yards to reach a depth over 10'. My recommendation is Cozumel. You can get there using the Ferry at Palya del Carmen. Set up your trip with a dive operation, I don't recommend Water World, however, this might be the only shop in Cancun.
There is plenty of food items that are not seafood. If you stay at an All Inclusive the menu is all most endless and you will have your choice of a couple of specialty restaurants.
Depending on your hotel, if you are on Hotel Row you are kinda screwed without a car. Taxi service is a fixed rate between your Hotel and the destination you are headed. Your Hotel should help you out with all your Taxi needs. About being ripped off by cab drivers, like I said get the Hotel to help you out. There is a bus service in Cancun away from Hotel Row, the Taxi's have Hotel Row all sewn up. Good Luck.

It is a bit expensive compared to other parts of Mexico. I highly reccomend that you go visit the ruins Chichen Itza while you are in Cancun. Snorkeling is great up there. Most restaurants offer steak in their menus. Also at night you can find many hot dog stands and hamburger stands. Hope this helps.

i can answer a couple of those,
snorkeling is way bomb! the fish dont care you're there so they swim around your belly and they are beautiful,
and dont take a cab, we got our camera stolen by a cab driver, and we still dont know how he managed to do it,
take the bus, its cheap and takes you where you want to go, but dont miss it!

Snorkeling in Cancun is great. I found Cozumel's diving to be better. If you drive you can go to Ixcaret, which has some awesome snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins.
I enjoyed a lot of good food that wasn't seafood while I was there. I wanted to avoid stomach problems so I ate mostly at places like TGI Fridays. But, I did eat a few times at local restaraunts and as long as the dishes and silverware was clean, I was fine. I wouldn't recommend eating things from roadside vendors unless you're used to that type of thing.
I found the best transportation was simply a rental car, or you can take the tour buses to the different sites in the area.
