Don't stay in Cancun. Stay in Playa del Carmen, more laid back & cheaper. Checkout MOM'S Hotel, in Playa to stay. THye offer a small pool & it's 4 blocks to the beach.

try on IslaMujeres, most hotels are very cheap but not all are all inclusive, but the food is very cheap at the restaurant's there and you can buy all your foods at the store there or take the ferry back into Cancun great place and safe, we stayed at the Vistalamar 18$ a nightfor two people

Can I suggest Riviera Maya over Cancun? Unless you are into partying and going to clubs Riviera Maya is much nicer. It's not too far from Cancun and much more tropical and less overbuilt. We've always stayed at one of the Iberostar resorts. They are fantastic.

I stayed at the Flamingo hotel, it's affordable and nice. Stay away from the time share tour guides.. stay away and avoid them.

Good Luck
check out flaming hotel online.

You need to do some research. Don't know where your departing from, when you plan to travel and what you budget is for air and resort.

Here are some good sites for research.

Any of the Palace resorts are very nice, Dreams Cancun.
Dreams Cancun has a children's club, your daughter would love. Check it out.

Good Luck and have a great trip.

I think that hotels in Playa del Carmen are cheaper, I´m not very sure.
There are several in Riviera Maya such as:
Barcelo Maya Beach, Copacabana, El Dorado, all of them are all inclusive 4*

Budget hotels you can stay at are Dos Playas, right by km 9.5, good location, food is ok, but again is very cheap, and you get what you pay for, another is the Imperial Las Perlas, again ok, if you want really cheap stay at the Maya Caribe...years ago I stayed at the Ambiance Kin Ha for 1 night and that is also cheap, I would call your travel agent they may be able to help you faster because they can search by price and star rating in one shot.

Happy Planning =)
