Cost of day trips or excersions in Cancun?

Does anyone know if it is better (cheaper) to book day trips on line or once you get to your resort? Can anyone tell me where to look on-line for diff. prices of excersions?
Thanks

There is no difference in price. I booked online both time...I like the one stop shopping. Also, you still have to visit a rep a the resort to have the excursion scheduled. So, its is a preference thing. Do you like to have as much monetary end tied before leaving? Or, do you like to have the flexability to decide what you want to do when you get there?

In my experience, the easiest thing to do is book your day trip from your resort. I don't believe that you will find cheaper prices booking online, as well you are going to want to take them from the resort because it's the easiest place to jump on the bus. If you've not done a resort stay before, first, you'll love it! After you arrive, you will be given an orientation that explains all the facilities, activities and anything else pertaining to your particular resort. You will also be given brosures that advertise the available day trips, what's included with them and price. The price will depend on what you want to do, as it varies depending on what the trip is but generally, you will find them anywhere from $50-$100 USD. When you decide what you want to take, you book it right inside the resort and the staff will make sure you are aware of things that you should bring with you and what time to catch the bus in the morning. If you are curious about what trips are available, you can do a quick search on google for 'cancun day trips' or 'cost cancun day trips' and that brings up a lot of results. Here is one that I found with it.

I've never been to Cancun, actually I will be going there for the first time in 8/2006. Anyway when I went to Cabos this past June I booked some excursions via on line. Not knowing whether is was less expensive or not, but the prices seemed fairly inexpensive. Of course when I arrived to Cabos I asked about prices to the excursions I booked on line I found that I saved money! I will be using the same website for Cancun. You can even book your shuttle service through them. Even less expensive if someone has AAA.

I always do my price shopping before I leave & did book in advance when going to Cancun. I check the activities section of both Travelocity & Expedia, as well as any local companies that I can locate online. Typically when you review the details of an activity at Travelocity or Expedia, it will tell you the name of the operator. You can then look online to see if you can purchase direct from them. Most of the time, the tour operators are the same at the resort & I have found that they charge a little more. Sometimes there are smaller companies who offer their tours at the resorts that are slightly cheaper.

Compare what is included and the duration of the trips. Sometimes the cheaper excursion doesn't include as much. The estimate of $50-100 per person seems pretty accurate. If you're interested in Mayan ruins, I'd recommend the trip to Chichen Iza on an air conditioned bus. We also did a trip that combined Xel-Ha & Tulum, which was nice.

Have fun!

Tour companies pay almost 50% of the cost of the excursion to your hotel or concierge. If you want it cheaper, cross the street from your hotel in Cancun and book it on the street. But this will probably mean that they will not pick you up or drop you off at your hotel.
