Cost of holidaying in Mexico?

I am hoping to go on holiday to Cancun in November - does anyone know how cheap it is for things like average meal prices and beer? I don't know whether to book all inclusive or room only. I am from the UK.
Thanks

At the moment all inclusive is showing at about £400 extra which is why i'm asking the question how much money would you take for 2 weeks?

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at an all-inclusive resort and LOVED it. We got a package deal that included round-trip airfare, transportation from the airport to the resort and back again when we left, our room, all meals and soft drinks at the resort, and many alcoholic beverages too. Check out the website http://www.cancunallinclusive.com. To give you an idea, we flew from Detroit to Cancun and stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo, which was one of the more expensive all-inclusive resorts but came highly recommended by a friend. Total cost for the two of us for a week in April was about $2,500.00 U.S.

Prices vary greatly from place to place. You'll find little or no difference from what you'd pay in the US in some touristy places, other places will be cheap.

For drinks/night clubs there are usually happy hours and pay one price nights at various places. If you hang out on the beach you'll see planes, ultra lights or boats dragging advertisements for $1 beer nights or ladies night etc. As an example the La Boom Disco had a ladies night, admission and drinks free for ladies, guys paid $20 for all you can drink. Not too bad though I can't say for sure if they still have that promotion or if the bar even exists.

I think you'll find that Mexico is cheap by UK standards.

How much extra is the All-inclusive? I'm a big fan of the all-inclusive. Especially in Mexico. When it's hot and sunny you'll spend a lot on drinks even if they are cheap. That plus it's a pain in the but to carry cash on the beach.

Get the All Inclusive. It is the only way to go. That is how I have gone done both times now. The prices will be lower than usual due to it being hurricane season. I hope you enjoy your trip!

I booked an AI, the main reason is to get rid of any hassle. I won't have to worry about how much money to take for food and drink. The only money I will need is for extras like souvenirs and day trips!! Hope you have fun!

Tourists coming from Europe find way cheaper to go all inclusive, I recommend the Riu Hotels, they are brand new and are great properties in the heart of Hotel Zone.

If you go average meal...you mean junk food? because there are food courts in every mall and dinners where you can snack all day long throughout the Hotel Zone.

In the all inclusive plan you have hotel, meals, indoor activities, snacks and beverages 24/7, this way you can calculate the extra cash for night activities.

Either way, you will have a blast...Welcome to Cancun!!!

It depends where you go, i.e. tourist area or local area. Because you look and talk like a gringo it's best to stay in the tourist area. Everything is less than half the prices in the UK in these areas, 1/10 in local areas. Always say " no soy un pinche americano" (I'm not an f-ing yank). Have fun, (Double X and Carte Blanche are the best beers, Don Julio is THE best tequila)
