I live in San Diego, right next to the border. I was always leery about going to dentists in Tijuana, but a few years ago I needed my wisdom teeth extracted BADLY and didn't have the money to do it stateside. A bunch of people from my work said they had been to see a Mexican dentist named Dr. Ruth (funny,I know). They all swore by her. Alas, me and my boss went down to see her and I was pleasantly suprised! She was clean, professional, and spoke English (in fact she lives in the US, but practices in Mexico for humanitarian reasons). Even better, she pulled my 2 teeth, gave me my prescriptions, and charged me $60.00! I'm not sure where I put her business card, but her name is Dr. Ruth Rubio, DDS. She's right off the main street in TJ (Revolucion) on the corner above a shoe store called, I believe, Viva Zapata. Honestly, I will never go to any other dentist other than her. I'll try to find her card for you, but I'm not sure if I'll be successful. Good luck to you! |

One of my friends went to Mexico and had his (few remaining) teeth pulled and had dentures made. Problem is, they didn't fit correctly, and it was too expensive to go back to the same doctor for adjustments. So he just didn't wear them, and all the money was wasted.
You have to remember follow-up care is important in dentistry, especially in making false teeth. |

There are some good ones and some bad ones just as in the US. In both countries I have foud some good and some bad. My advise would be to try to get a recommendation for a good dentist from somebody that lives in the city in Mexico in which you'd like to get your dental work done. You also wouldn't go to any random dentist in the US, right? The same thing applies in Mexico. I can tell you this being a Mexican citizen that lives in the US now. I've gone through the process of picking dentists both in my native Mexico City and in the San Francisco Bay Area and can honestly tell you that the experience was rather similar, with some good and some bad results. |

Just as in any place, you should ask for references and check around! We are US expats living in Mexico and my husband just finished having a dental implant done. He had independent evaluations both her and in the US and both used the same equipment and came up with the same solution. Because he works here in Mexico, it was much simpler for us to do the multi-step process here rather than flying back and forth to the US. The price was about half what it was in the US and my husband was very pleased with the results. |

TJ, my next door neighbor went to a woman dentist there and got really good dental work and good price. I will ask him her name soon, when he gets back into town. |
