I think as of last week they lifted that for Mexico. I caused to much problems and back up. Copy of birth certificate and Divers license should be fine. You use to get a passport in 4 to 5 weeks now it is up to months. |

You got a lot of contradictory answers. Here is the truth! If you are FLYING you must have a passport. If you are DRIVING, you do not need a passport. Starting as early as Jan. 2008, you will need a passport to drive to Mexico also. If you are FLYING, you Must get a passport, but there is a BIG backup right now...soooo...the government has created a "flexibiity 'program. If you have applied already, or do it now, and your passport cannot arrive in time for your trip ( it is taking 16 weeks now), then you must have the receipt for your application, go to the website below and follow the instructons for the "flexibility" program. Then you will be able to travel without a passport. See this site for all info on applying for a passport and for the "flexibility" program. have a great trip. The 2nd website is where you can go to read the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative ( the new passport law) for yourself so will know that this info is correct. |

To get in here, no problem, just your picture ID and birth certificate.
The problem is to get back to USA, if you don't have a passport, you are in trouble.
And to avoid that, the airline won't let you get in the flight.
So get a passport. |

You need a passport if traveling by plane. If arriving by car or sea, you can still get in with just a birth certificate. If you do decide you need a passport, please allow plenty of time - what used to take 3-4 weeks is currently taking up to 3 months because so many are having to apply for passports. |
