I believe you need a passport only if you are flying in. You will need your passport next year even if you are driving. I would check with immigration department before I travel |

You will not be required to have a passport, but make sure you have excellent documentation upon your return to the U.S. Something that PROVES your citizenship: voter registration card, birth certificate, and, obviously a photo i.d.
Mexico will let anyone in, so the only concern is demonstrating your citizenship to come back home. |

Effective 2007 passports are required for US citizens to travel to Mexico. It takes about 10-12 weeks to get your passport, so if you are going you better apply now. |

Well, You don't need a passport to enter Mexico, but you will need one if you plan on coming back. That is if you weren't born in the U.S.
If you were born in the US, you just need to show your social security card. |
