You will get the forms while in flight to fill out and have ready when you land.
When you go through the customs/immigration line they will issue you a tourist visa good for 90 or 180 days.
Do not lose it. they will ask for , and check the date on it when you depart.
All this is included in the price of your airline ticket

Well...here is a real answer with a reference to back it up...see the site below and read the paragraph with a list of countries in it. You will see that Italy is in that list...of countries whose citizens do not need a visa to visit Mexico. You will get a tourist card on the plane.

A visa? no. A passport yes. American Citizens don't but if you are not native to USA, then your passport will work fine.
