If you're traveling by land you do NOT need a passport, only a birth certificate and a notarized letter signed by your mother giving your father permission to take you across the border. You only need a passport if you are flying. In that case EVERYONE needs a passport. |

If you are FLYING to Mexico, you must have a passport. It currently takes about 3 weeks to get a passport. see site below. If you are driving to Mexico, children under 18 only need their birth certificate. Also, If your mother will not be going with you, your Dad must carry a letter of permission from her giving him permission to take you out of the U.S. and into Mexico. It must be signed and notarized. Show him the 2nd site below and ask him to read the 2nd paragraph under "Entry Requirements." None of the 3 other answers are correct...it does not take a long time to get your passport, passports are not needed for land travel. and you cannot get by with just doing a passport application. |

If your from the states you'll need a passport. Apply now and have it expedited. It will cost about $150.
Travel to /from Canada/Mexico was exempt after 9/11 but everyone needs one now. If your flying your dad can fill out the declaration card and put the entire family on just 1. The airline will give it to him aboard the aircraft. |

If you leave the US you will need a passport.
If you are 12 you may appear on your father's passport. I think you can have your own passport at 14! |

If you are leaving the country, you'll need a passport - you should file an application soon, since it does take a few months to get it.
For information on a passport and the application, go to http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html |

If this were the "Gong Show" Charlie and Tonalc2 would be "Gonged"! Actually Joe would be the winner and we move on to round two. Even if you travel by land you need a passport, this rule was change a couple of years back.It used to be a birth certificate and/or I.D. was enough, but not any more. And if you think I should be gonged try coming back to the U.S. with a birth certificate or I.D. If you don't have a passport plan on eating tacos for awhile! Adios, have a good trip, don't drink the water! |

Apply for your passport RIGHT NOW! You need to fill it out with your parents since you're under 16. If you don't think you'll get it in time, you can always fill out your passport with an itinerary (a list of the places you'll be going, how long you'll be there, and what you will do while there). |
