Your a Mexican Citizen so it fine if you go in to Mexico but you just need a ID to prove it and you will need a US passport to return to america or in your case your green card and matricula consular thats all

The correct answer is no, you do not need your Mexican passport to drive into Mexico...your birth certificate and/or matricula is fine. Even your expired passport is fine for entering Mexico...see site below and read carefully. Now, are you in the U.S. legally? Do you have a green card? If so, you must carry your green card and use that to re-enter the U.S. If you do not have a green card, you must have a U.S. visa to get back into the U.S. and a visa is nearly impossible to get. In other words...if you are in the U.S. illegally and return to Mexico for a visit, you will not be able to re-enter the U.S.

Depends where you home town is? If it´s a border town you do not need a passport. If going further into Mexico, if you are not a Mexican Citizen you will need a FM-T tourist visa. You do not need an american Passport to return to the USA if you are an american Citizen until June 2009
