U.S. citizens need to present either (a) a passport, passport card (scheduled to be in full production beginning in July 2008), or WHTI-compliant document; or (b) a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.

Not until June 2009. Your drivers license and proof of US citizenship would be all that is required. Don't forget to buy auto insurance if you are driving in Mexico!! |

Traveling by land you will NOT need a passport until June of 2009. A government issued photo ID and birth certificate is enough for now. |
