I've heard that u need to have a passport to go to mexicali, mex. Is this true? I've also heard that the law doesn't start till 1-1-2008. Which is right? I want to go soon.
You only need a passport if you are going to fly. Make sure to get a tourist pass at the border if you are going to stay longer than 72 hours or leave the border zones.

You do not need a passport to go into Mexicali Mexico if you are coming from the USA, however, to get back into USA from Mexicali you will need one at this time. The new passport law is in effect.
Additionally, while anywhere in Mexico be careful not to drink the water or eat uncooked vegetables, ice in drinks etc. Hygiene is very low and the spread of amoebic dysentery is epidemic, bacteria are even on the money too.
