Do the sockets in mexican hotels fit american equipment (e.g., hairdryers)?
You'll need an adapter if there's a ground on your US appliance. The places where we stayed had two-prong outlets. The 3 prong=> 2 prong adapters you can find at most hardware stores in the States.
odd
everything is the same. if you do need an adapter for a 3 prong outlet you can go to a store and get one for about a buck (just like in the states)...or bring one with you. same as in the US. and almost all of the stores you know in the US are here (wal-mart, home depot, sams, etc.) mexico isnt the end of the world (its not even the 3rd world) and im not in a touristy part of mexico like cancun thats adapted for people from the US.

Yes, you can plug anything into a mexican outlet. Its just like America, kinda. When I went, I stayed in a resort in Cabo San Lucas and I felt as if I were still in America at times. But its a big tourist place to go for Americans mostly, so thats probably why.
Peace
yes, the sockets are the same as The US. you will be OK taking your hairdryer, have fun! and welcome to Mexico!!!

Of course! You may have to go to a hardware store or Walmat if your dryer doesn't work....and buy a 50 cent conversion plug.
The sockets usually work, but your setting on the hairdryer may need to change for the voltage.

Yes. There is no difference in most places.

I suggest you take an adapter just in case. I've been through that before and while some sockets do have the three others only have two and are the same small size.
