It's not common thru-out Mexico but here in San Patricio-Melaque there is a week long celebration with fireworks. San Patricio is one of many patron Saints in Mexico.

Also search the internet for 'san patricio mexico' and learn about the Irish that fought on the side of Mexico |

Just wear some green and put a little food coloring in your beer. The folks around you (including the Mexicans) might get a kick out of it and join in on the fun. I'm Irish, and have lived here in Mexico for 4 years. No, it's not celebrated.
Here's an interesting article about Mexico's Fighting Irish

I'm from South Bend, Indiana, home of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, LOL Enjoy the article. |

Considering St. Patrick was Irish, I doubt it. |

Well, I think not. Because I was at Walmart the other day with my husband (he is from Mexico City) and he was asking what all the green stuff that was for sale was about (although I know I have told him about St. Patricks day before)... |

St. Patrick's is celebrated most of the times on the Mexican cities that are border with US... not because it is a holiday for Mexico, but mostly because is when everyone is in vacations (Mex. and US) and business people can make more money with tourist from the US... Some traditions in those cities stays as a fun thing to do, so don’t be surprise if they “pinch” you for not wearing anything green :)
In the City of Acuña (border with Del Rio) they make more of a deal for St. Patrick’s as far as I know... people like from Saltillo and Monterrey (to name popular cities) from Mexican side goes for vacation... plus the people around US that know about it… because a lot of motorcyclist (don't know if all of them are from US or other parts of the world) go there as a tradition ( over 20 yrs if I’m not mistaken) to do their big shows (they even let them close streets) and then at night everybody goes to party at the clubs… |

I'm sorry to tell this, but....
The problem is:
Juarez is NOT a big mexican city.
Is not a touristic place.
It's only an industrial town and is one of Mexico's poor cities.
If you would go to other cities like: Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancun, Los Cabos, Mexico City, or any other big and rich mexican city perhaps you can find fun in the night clubs.
But not in Juarez. |

I know Juarez, and i assure you that there will be night clubs celebrating St. Patrick's day, for the only reason that everybody in El Paso TX, goes to Juarez on the weekends, and the club owners know that.
However central Mexico and southern Mexico do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The patron saint of Ireland doesn't have to do anything with Mexico.
I don't know which ones are going to be celebrating it, but i recommend you to go to the ones at the Juarez downtown, where the Santa Fe bridge is. |
