Do you need a passport for travel in Nov. to Mexico?

Depends on if you are walking across the border or flying, I think.

Not until the first of next year. You will need two forms of ID such as drivers license and birth certificate. You can check with the state departments website for complete info.

I live at the border. Two days ago, I drove across to get my FMT (Tourist permit) and used my certified birth certificate and Texas d/l to get those papers.

When I came back, I showed my d/l and US immigration waved me on.

In the very near future, like next January, you will need a passport to fly back into the States, and a year later, you will need a passport to come across on the ground.

For this, you need to google for Lonely Planet Thorn Tree and ask in the Mexico section, but in November, you should be okay yet with a certified b/c and d/l.

Anyone who plans to ever travel out of the States in the future, should start getting the passport while there is no rush. Just have it.

No, you dont need one until 2007. Check out the US Department of State website or USPS.com for more info.

mexika_thug
yes you do

Actually, you'll need it to get BACK to the States. According to Mexican laws, anyone can come and go without any kind of documents, as long as they do the proper paperwork.

Avoid problems and bring it with you.

It depends on if you mean traveling for this Nov 06 or Nov 07. If traveling Nov. 06 then no you can travel with a certified copy of your birth certificate or the original birth certificate along with your driver’s license or state id.

If you are meaning next Nov. 07 then yes you will need a passport. Starting Jan 8th 2007 it will be required to have a passport for Mexico, Caribbean, Canada, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, S. America, etc. You will need one for anywhere outside the US. This is being done for security purposes.

Because of the new requirements some of the passport centers are backed up so depending on where your application goes to will determine if you say get your passport in 4 weeks or 12 weeks! Have Fun and let me know if you need further assistance.

With the current situation as it is, I'd make sure I have a passport any time I leave the US to go anywhere. Just common sense.'

because of the new laws and the changes after 9/11, passports will be needed to leave the country after December 2006. You should not need a passport to visit Mexico in Nov.

You will need a passport or birth certificate regardless when you travel. Mexico is a great place. Have fun.

The Mr. Pine
No. It might make easier to get back in.

Birth certificate wont work. As of last May (I was told) passports are mandatory. Better hurry if you dont already have one.
