The CORRECT answer is: Sort of.

If you are flying into Mexico from the Untied States (i.e. Houston to Mexico City or San Antonio to Monterrey) you DEFINITELY need a passport. If you are travelling by land, you don't need a passport if you are going to stay in the border region. I think after 50km inland (not sure, do your research on this) you need a passport.

Yes.
However, 15 year olds can get an enhanced ID which lets them enter Canada and Mexico. People can also get enhanced licenses which do the same thing. An enhanced license or ID has a small micro chip in it that they can scan at the border.

wow....some people are so rude when they answer, its unbelievable!! but I believe, when you fly into mexico, you for sure need your passport. If you travel by land or water, you need the passport card or actual passport. Though, its a hit or miss....sometimes they check, sometimes they dont. sometimes they accept simple paperwork and sometimes you HAVE to have the correct stuff. haha. gotta love the inconstancy of our goverment.
