If you are flying, you must have a passport. if you are traveling by land and will return to the a U.S. before June 1, you can use your birth certificate. See 1st site below. Unless your parents are traveling with you, you must carry a letter of permission, signed by both and notarized. See 2nd site and read section on MINORS under "Entry Requirements." Then see 3rd site about the letter. Last site is for all pasport application info.

It depends if you're flying or driving. If flying, you need a passport.

If you are driving, currently you need government ID (driver's license) and proof of citizenship (birth certificate). This will change in June.

Not a good idea, according to the State Department.

Apply for a U.S Passport which is the highest standard of proof for your U.S Citizenship or you may find yourself stuck across the border.

If you walk or drive into MX you do not have to have passport until June 19, 2009 If you fly or cruise by ship into MX you have to have passport. You have to have a picture I D and your birth certificate from the court house in the county that you were born in with you if you walk into MX from such place as Brownsville TX or any other area that you can walk from into MX. Remember do not drink the water and do NOT use the ice cubes to make drinks with, I was just there and I was just at S TX and I used the ice to make mixed drinks with this was 3 weeks ago, the entire gang got sick but I have an autoimmunity situation and I am still dealing with the yucks.

You now need a passport.
