ALL WRONG ANSWERS! Including the one that says they are not needed for border towns. Being a border town makes no difference. Passports are not required for LAND travel to and from Mexico until after SUMMER 2008. See website below and read top half of the page carefully for the current information. A new announcement will be made later giving the specific date. See second website for passport application info...might as well go ahead and get one and avoid the huge rush which will take place when the date is announced. |

No. You don't need a passport to get in since Mexico doesn't require it, but the USA will ask you for it when you return beginning June of 2008 if you are traveling by land, and in January of 2008 if you are flying. |

This US passport question is getting out of hand. Every US citizen should have a valid passport. Government web site has all the info. It was January 1, 2008, and now the requirement is late-summer. Too much conflicting information here. Just get one now! |

No, the Mexican border patrol at the Tijuana crossing don't even require you to slow down as you cross!!
Coming back is a different story!! I am assuming that you are Mexican or "look" hispanic... You should have proof with you to get back into the states.
