If you are an American citizen you do NOT need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico or any other U.S. territory or possession. You do need a passport to FLY to any international destination, including Mexico. You will not be allowed on an international flight without a passport. You may travel to Mexico or Canada by LAND without a passport for now. Sometime between Jan. 2008 and June 2009, the requirement for a passport for land travel to and from Mexico and the U.S. and Canada and the U.S. wiil go into effect. See 1st website below to read the law for yourself, and 2nd website for all passport info. |

As far as Puerto Rico you do not need a passport as it is a US territory. Mexico if you are traveling via boat or by land you do not need to have a passport, but if you are flying you into Mexico you will need either a passport or a receipt that you have purchased a passport. I don't know about the "OUT" direction, but sure as shooting you need one to get BACK! Returning from Puerto Rico, (A U.S. territory) does not require a passport. See the link for more information |

Yes. After filing the forms and pictures, get ready to wait 60 days or more for your passport. Things can speed it along, but It will cost you more money. If traveling to PR, no passport is required. |

If you're flying into Mexico, you do need a passport. However, if you're driving into Mexico to Matamoros, you don't need a passport. It will be mandatory January 1, 2008 wether driving or flying into Mexico. I don't know what the requirements are for Puerto Rico. |
