Do you think that Mexican trucks should be allowed to cross the border and run throughout are country?

It's Me
Yes. They should be able to do whatever they want, run around the country with bombs in them.

WHAT KIND OF QUESTON IS THIS YOU IDIOT?!?!?!?

I think you meant OUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me
Yes but I do wish that they had to have some sort of inspection before they did. Even if it is not up to our standards... but I have seen alot of vehicles that give out alot of black smoke and things like severely cracked windshields and lack of working brake lights that could be a hazard.

kc_warpaint
I'm not being a bigot or anything, but the answer is no.

First, most of them don't speak our language and don't care to try to learn our language.

Second, they don't know our traffic laws, and again, they don't care to try to learn them.

Third, trucks that are too old and too unsafe to run in the United States are bought by people outside of this country for use in their own countries -- usually countries south of the border because the trucks are cheap. A new truck can run anywhere from $100,000 to $175,000. A descent used truck can run anywhere from $25,000 to $100,000. A crappy used truck runs less than $20,000. In a country where our minimum wage is considered good money, are they buying a $150,000 truck or a $15,000 truck?

If the trucks were too old and unsafe to begin with, why would we want them back on our highways driven by people who don't speak our language or understand our traffic laws?

Oh, and my truck is NOT allowed to run willy-nilly all over Mexico. It takes permits, work visas, passports and a whole slew of other stuff to do it and then I'm only allowed to run within about 100 miles of the border -- not all over the country. Yes, we do have an agreement with Canadian companies to allow their trucks to run in our country, but their trucks have to meet ALL of our safety standards -- something old, busted trucks from Mexico can't do.

Only if the trucks and drivers can meet US safety standards. All should be inspected.

saulg21
Not only Mexican but Canadian trucks come in and out of our country. It's part of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Only IF and WHEN they are THOROUGHLY SEARCHED!!!!!

SuperCooper
The only real reason that they want to allow Mexican trucks into the country is to drive down the wages of U.S. truckers. If Mexican trucks are allowed, eventually all trucking in the U.S. will be done by Mexican trucking firms paying their drivers much lower wages. This is just more of the class warfare that is constantly being waged by the wealthy elite against the working class. But the American worker faces a long road ahead. Sealing the borders and protest marches are not going to have any impact. Only an international labor movement that unites the desires and pursuits of workers around the globe will put an end to the downward spiral in wages and the increase in global conflagration.

weechi
uh, yeah. why? that's what the US does as well. and we'd have to give up a LOT of products and money if we didn't allow canadian or mexican products into the US via trucks.

JUSTME
No, I do not.

Kathy , your question is somewhat moot. Most commodities coming across the borders from both Canada and Mexico move by rail. There are entire trains made up of just containers.(Later, at their destination they are indeed moved by truck). If you have an open ended agreement with your bordering countries, then why not allow it? It's called NAFTA. The US borders are quite pourous;the exception being the Mexican border only due to the human immigration issue.

chickie
I think you should first learn how to spell... then worry about Mexican trucks in your country.

i hate border jumpers period
