Does a US resident need a Visa to travel to Mexico by land?

Charlie
You will get a tourist card on the plane or at the border that costs $22.00 U.S . and serves as your "visa" for 180 days. You can travel anywhere in Mexico with this tourist card. There are other types of visas available for people who wish to reside in Mexico.

Just found some new info. You say you are a U.S. resident...does that mean you are a citizen or a Green Card holder. the info above applies if you are a citizen...if you are a green card holder, i just found info that states you too may travel to mexico without a visa. See webpage below and read the section just below the list of countries.

If you stay in the border zone you do not need a visa. If you travel by land into the interior or if you arrive on plane in order to leave the airport you need a tourist visa which is an FMT. The flight crew will give you one before the plane lands. By land you ask for it as you enter the country. All you have to do is fill out the form, maybe answer some questions, and get it stamped.

Charlie is right, until Jan 2008. You will need a passprt. I live here also.

Only if you are planning on traveling over 100 miles past the border.
