There are plenty of jails in Mexico. I have never known somebody to look for one, except to attempt to bail a friend out. Any Police person can give you directions. Any Taxi driver can take you there. Almost any bartender can tell you how to get to a jail. The hardest part is finding out how to get out of the jails.
Mexican justice is quite different. They do not follow our constitutional rights. Money talks. Lawyers need enough cash to make it worth their while, and they need enough to "thank" those in the process of getting someone released.
I am truly interested in why someone would look for a Mexican jail for their father. Husband, x-husband, in-laws, I could easily understand.

where in mexico first of all. Then they probably won't give you any information over the phone that's just the way it is. Look up mexican government web sites and try the mexican consulate or "cefereso" which is the jail system or try contacting people that may have been in contact with him friends, family.
