Driving to TIJUANA TJ, MX this weekend. Would I get stopd often just for havng a Cali License plate/ScionTC?

Do not I repeat Do not under any circumstances drive your own car into Mexico especially with USA plates you are inviting car thief's and muggers to take advantage of an American especially a young American girl traveling by herself as Americans have been known to simply vanish in Mexico and of course the Mexicans have no explanation except to say well maybe they ran away from home or found someone down here etc. You give up all rights as a human being as soon as your feet are on their soil !!! I am not trying to scare you it is simply the truth, there are drug cartels down there killing what good cops are left and they run the country there is no law it is all corrupt !!! I know Mexicans who lived here for years and they too get harassed by their own people so you know it's bad down there... Never go alone and stay on busy streets do not wander off too far or you will become a statistic guaranteed... I used to go down there all the time but anymore it's like running the gauntlet you take your life into "their" hands when you go down there please ask around and be safe girl !!! Does your insurance even cover this I highly doubt it they have been burnt too many times by these Mexican Bandidos too many times !!! Also make sure you do have a license as they will check believe me!

It's like here in CA, if you drive erratically you'll be stopped. Ensenada is about an hour drive from TJ. Best advice is if you don't have a license, don't drive. If the Mexican authorities don't catch you, US Customs will. Every single vehicle is stopped at the border coming back.

if your just going to TJ just park on this side of the border and walk across. driving across is never a good idea unless ur going far, but if its just TJ than walk. and when comming back all they ask you is "where were you born" and thats it. ensenada is only maybe an hour or 2 away. thats a WAY better place to go than TJ. BRING YOUR ID!!!

ps. to cross the border u need a passport

Well I don't think you would be stopped as I have seen cars with foreign license plates in my country and they've never had any trouble. It might be different in Mexico though.

make sure your insurance covers you in Mexico. and be prepared to walk home, because your car will probably be stolen. just park on the US side and walk over.
