Cabo is fine, I was there last week. To worry about the drug wars and Cabo, that would be like saying "The gang violence is terrible in LA, we better not go to Denver." Its that far removed.
Couple of tips though: Make sure you take a credit card that will work with you on fraudulent charges. Most places do not take amex and they will double bill you. Also some of the restaurants do not like to bring you itemized receipts. So make sure you ask up front about amex and detailed receipts. If they take amex, you know you are fine. Also always ask for the exchange rate up front, right now its basically 15:1 but they will try to clip you at 12 or 13:1 if you let them. Ask everything up front with cab drivers too, ask how much before you get in. If you act naive, you will get fleeced a little bit. |

Cabo San Lucas is safe, the borders towns like Tijuana and Juarez are a little dangerous for people living there or staying there.
All beach town like Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and more are safe.
The is big fuzz on the news but even they say it's on the border towns and if your driving through there. |

I have been to Cabo and I have friends that live near border towns from Tijuana to Matamoros Mexico. If you are near the border, yes, it is very dangerous. I would not recommend driving to Cabo. But if you are flying you will be fine. Stayed in Cabo for a week and felt safe at all times. When we were on the beach 4 miltary M-16 armed men walked back and forth to make sure the tourist were protected at all times. That may seem scary but no one is going to mess with you. Tourism is how they make there money and they won't let any thing bad happen. |

I am going to Cabo with my family over spring break .
I have not heard anything about Cabo being unsafe ..of course as long as you dont get out of control and not travel alone at night just like you wouldnt in Los angeles in a remote area i beleive you have nothing to worry about . Just be careful to keep an eye on your drink and not to be a loud mouth or get confrontational with anyone you will have fun !
Be safe and just be aware of your surroundings |

Cabos San Lucas, is really safe and you are going to love it. The people are really nice and anywhere you go the food is great. I was there with my husband last November for 1 week and we even met a few people that were traveling alone in Cabos. Make sure you stay not too far from downtown (if you want to party). |

Hola. This is the question of the hour. Everyone is very concerned, but truly it not happening in the resort towns such as Cabo or Cancun or anywhere else. Most of the drug wars take place near the border. Most of the political uprest is happening in a town called Oaxaca. Cabo is safe. Just don't solicit prostitutes or go looking for drugs or hang out in the sleezy bars. |

I think the drug cartels would be silly to enter into combat in a tourist haven or against tourists there. It would be good night gracie. |

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. - Authorities say a man shot a woman he knew while she was working at a Wal-Mart in Florida City, then fatally shot himself.
Miami-Dade Police Department spokeswoman Rebeca Perez says the shooting happened inside the store Wednesday morning after an argument between the two.
The woman is in critical condition and the man was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Their identities have not been released.
No one else was hurt.
Wal-Mart spokesman Dan Fogleman says the company is "deeply concerned" for the woman's well-being.
On Monday, an Arizona couple was shot outside a Wal-Mart there.
The woman died and her husband was critically injured.
Authorities say the suspect in that shooting killed himself after being stopped by police in New Mexico.
The motive wasn't known. |

I was happy to find this question and these answers. My fiance and I are planning on going to Cabo for our honeymoon in June. Our families and friends are all worried about us going with everything that is in the news. We are young, don't have that much money, and cannot get a refund. I hope that everything is okay because I would hate to be out that money! |

I believe the U.S. govt. has just issued a travel warning for people thinking about travel to Mexico. Check the U.S. State Dept. website - it will tell you everything you need to know. If you do go, have fun and be safe! |

Why risk it? Your life and that of your family don't need to be risked by the mexican drug wars...Wasn't it just on the news that spring breakers are being warned to STAY OUT of Mexico right now? I would not go if it was me, I'm just saying.....You can always go back when it is safe. |
