I have to agree with Roger on this one, 1) your first three answers were so totally out of wack (lady if you think people/animals don't defecate in vegetable fields in the US you're nuts!) 2) You're not likely to find very authentic mexican food in Cozumel as it is over saturated with tourist. However I recommend you try the homemade tortillas with mexian white cheese YUM! A simple yet truly authentic quesadilla. Good luck with mom though she seems to not be as open minded as you.

Well, you got three moronic answers. If the food were really bad, would they keep bringing people to Mexico on a cruise? Bring them down, let the get sick and die, then take the boat home empty. Yea, That would last a long time for sure. In Cancun you won't even find 'Authentic' Mexican food anyway. And you are JUST as likely to get sick on a cruise as you are ashore. Mom has no clue, neither do thes three posters.

just make sure you know that the food is coming from a respectable place not some run down rest. if you are on a cruise i wouldnt worry they would have to meet specific food and sanitary regulations..

Sorry about Mom, she's just doing her job. Drink bottled water, don't eat off the street stands, stick to cooked food. I live in Mexico and eat in local restaurants and buy groceries in local stores. Never get sick. Hope you can have some fun even with the food police on guard.

well cozumel is located in the riviera maya and tht is the most important touristic area in mex, so restaurants there r really careful abt preparing food that is not gonna make tourists sick....they live frm tourists u know......cozumel is full of tourists and if they all get sick 4 eatting there it wouldnt b a touristic place anymore.

Your body is not used to the water so don't drink. Lettuce and ice are so small in quantity its not a problem. Hard to find authentic food in " little America " aka Cancun. Get away from touristy areas and you'll find it.
Don't eat fish after say , noon or so. Lack of refrigeration.

Your cant drink the water or eat the lettuce. Their are enzymes in the water that your body isn't used to unless you live there. these enzymes give you really bad diarrhea

I'm sorry I have to agree with your mom. I went to Mexico and got parasites. It was from the lettuce because the people working the fields have no where to poop, so they just do it in the field to fertalize it. (THE DOCTOR TOLD ME ALL OF THIS - NO JOKE!)
