Going across the border and visiting Mexico, do you feel safe?

I've been there in the 70's, but would never go back there again.

Most of the times I do.
I just returned from Reynosa and did not this time. It was when they U.S. Paid $5,000,000.00 for a drug cartel member and they flew him into the international airport. Military all over the place, read about problems with the cartel and so I left 12 days early.
I would not go into Nuevo Laredo or Ciudad Juaraz because of the problems there, but I will return next year as always and enjoy my self. I even lived in Acapulco for 12 years, so it is like returning home to me.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

Please pick an answer as best answer, even if it is not mine.

Yes, I feel safe...why wouldn't I? I'm going back in two months and I can't wait.

Mexico is definitely safe, ppl are just so paranoid and make the situation over there bigger than it really is.

I just got back from Aguascalientes / Zacatecas / Jalisco / Monterrey / Nuevo Laredo.

Unfortunately the border cities (Tijuana, Nuevo Laredo, etc) are rightly deserved cesspools, that are built primarily to exploit American tourist cravings for cheap prescription drugs and misc. baubles, as well as local Mexican indigenos looking for work. owing to their location in the drug trade, they absolutely have higher than normal violence problems.

Mexico is a beautiful country, but the best way to enter is by plane into the deeper interior, avoiding the border areas.
