Its very easy and cheap, you can catch a bus in front of your hotel every two or three minutes, they are not air conditioned, but the open windows help controlling the temp.
Cabs are also cheap, compared to many big cities in the states, its a good idea to have petty cash in Mexican pesos for this issues.

Public transportation is easy. Just ask at place your staying. We used buses all the time, have right Pesos. |

We did the bus. It was something like 8 pesos and 11 for the ONE bus. The ONE bus is actually A/C and does come around relatively often when its peak time. We did that on Friday and Saturday night just so our hair and make-up didnt jacked.
Dont take a cab unless you know a little bit of spanish. So you can meet the driver half way with what english he knows. |

i would never rent a car, the bus runs all the time and i think it was 60 cents in feb, there are alot and its just one main road that runs the length of the beach |

The bus is very easy to use. We went 3 years ago and it was only 60 cents (usd) to ride. You almost never have to wait because they are passing eachother. Just ask a local where the place you are going is and they will let the driver know where to stop. Our hotel ltold us not to take taxi's because the drivers try to rip off Americans. |

Busses are very easy to use in cancun. Just pick which way you want to go and stand on that side of the road. Busses run every few min and they run in a continuous loop around cancun. |
