Your spelling is PERFECT, don't be sorry. (okay, yit need the accents, but is perfect in english...)
Those are different things:
Chichén Itzá is an archeological site, it is one of the modern seven marvels of the world, "patrimonio de la humanidad", etc. If you want to see great mayan ruins this is the site.
Tulúm is an archeological site too, the ONLY one in the mayan area (and in all México) located at the beach. The caribbean sea is beautiful and the "magic" of the mayan ruins are great. It would be my second option after Chichén Itzá.
Xel-Há is NOT an archeological site, it is an amazing and wonderful tematic PARK (like a mexican Disneyland, but only with natural beautyness), they have a real awesom show at the night with "pictures" (not "pictures" but dancer, artists, ) from all México. This is the site to go for fun on day and have a very nice experience in a cultural show to see a little from the rest of my country (as you must know, Quintana Roo state is very far to the most of México territory and people, this mexican area seems to us as different as another country!). If you can you MUST go there, it really worths it. Try to go here and to Chichén Itzá at least. If you want fun and enjoy the day, this is option one, but stay there untill the night show. If you are interested in archeological sites, but maybe to get REALLY tired and be under direct sun most of the time (wich is not a good idea) go to Chichén Itzá. If you have time, go to Tulúm (and again get tired and under direct sun radiation). |

Tulum is small. It has a nice setting on the Caribbean Sea, but other than that it doesn't have much going for it. Chichen Itza is much more impressive, so it should be a definite stop. It's a longer trip getting to and from Chichen Itza, but it's well worth it.
As the other answerer pointed out Xel-ha is not an archaeological site, but it's a nice place to snorkle.
Xcaret has ruins on it's property, but they are small and not too exciting. Xcaret is a nice place to go if you want to tube down and underground river, or swim with the dolphins, or watch a charro (rodeo) exhibition.
If you could squeeze in another Maya ruin, I would recommend Coba. It's not too far from Tulum, but it's bigger and more impressive than Tulum. |

Xel-Ha was amazing.
I've done them all, and am going back to Cancun in 2 weeks and am going to Xel-Ha again. It's the perfect amount of everything. You can explore, swim in caves, see all kinds of animals, jump off cliffs, get carried away on a REAL lazy river, and they have great food!
I once did a trip that was sold at my hotel that was 1/2 a day at Xel-Ha and half a day at Tulum. They didn't rush us or anything, and food and transportation was all included. Maybe you would want to look into something like that?
good luck, and have fun :) |

Chitchen Itza is the best overall. It's really hot there though. Tulum is the next best, and it has an awesome beach! |

My vote is for Chichen Itza...one of the new 7-wonders of the world.
You can no longer climb the temple but the area is well worth seeing. It is unbelievable! |

Chitchen Itza is the best but is very far away, like a 3 hour trip.
Tulum is about 1.30 min away go to the ruins and stay in a little cabana in Coopal or Playapapaya... well only if you want to go nude... lol... |
