Ixtapa is really nice and good weather, but I prefer Cancun more to do and water is beautiful. Been to Ixtapa twice and rather not go back. |

have been to most of the resort cities in Mexico and I have enjoyed all of them including Ixtapa. Beach is very long and clean, food is good and drinks cheap. There are clubs there also. The place is clean and safe. Go horseback riding on the beach but don't pay for a "tour", just go to the beach an bargin with the people there. Cost me $40 for two people for 1 1/2 hours.
You will enjoy it there but don't expect it to be a wild party. Like I said, nice clean place that does have clubs but people stay pretty sane. Day trip to Zihua but don't stay there. |

Hey Maximus, watch what you say about my hometown.
Now on topic, it depends a lot on what you like. Me, I like laid back, so I go to Owen's beach club on Las Gatas beach in Zihuatanejo (you take a 5-minute boatride to get there, just go to the docks in Zihuatanejo and buy a ticket to Las Gatas). Or, even more laid back, Troncones, great for boogie boarding. And the most laid back of all, La Saladita, great for surfing. Troncones is about a half hour from Ixtapa, driving north, away from Zihuatanejo. |
