I take $100 to spend per day and usually end up with some left over since I do most if not all of my eating and drinking at the resort. The Palace resorts have a live show or live music every night, very tame but entertaining. If you want something a little more wild you can hit the night spots and those will vary in cost, inquire about the night club tour at the front desk. Take advantage of the all-inclusive benefits you have at the resorts. When ever I go out of the resort I will dine first before I go out, Don't forget you can enter other Palace resorts and dine or use whatever they have to offer. I highly reccomend the Miyako, oriental/sushi restauraunt at the Cancun Palace, only a 70 cent bus ride down Kukulcan Blvd. The Benihana style dinner is the best, ask your hotel to make you a reservation. The Palace resorts have a safe in each room that is big enough to fit a laptop and you set your own combination. Your money, and al valuables will be safe there. The food and service is excellent at the Palace Resorts. Take advantage of all the qualities they have for you like the included massage, pedicure, manicure and don't forget the 24hr room service. I've stayed at the Sun and Cancun Palaces and I reccomend the Chichen-Itza tour and the Paradise snorkling, the snorkling one is only half day but it is a lot of fun, they take you out on a catamaran to the reef for about an hour. They pick you up in first class buses and have a real good guide. The Isla Mujeres tour is a pretty nice one too, I truly enjoy the 45 minute ride to the Isle and of course the boat crew make it a lot of fun. You'll end up at the Isla Mujeres Palace and can relax, eat, drink or join activities like snorkling, scuba and so on. The Tulum/Xpu-Ha tour is great and take your swim suit cause Tulum is right on the water. The beach in Cancun is the best most beautiful beach I've ever seen but the one in Tulum is actually better, I highly reccomend bringing a disposable water camera, specially on this, the Isla Mujeres and the snorkling tours.

King of CancĂșn
Take your spending money down with you, but don't change it all over to pesos at once. All the hotels have a concierge that can switch it over to pesos as you need it. US dollars and Pesos are the two most common forms of monetary in CancĂșn. Trust me you are going to get down there and see things you want to buy if you go out and you are going to want to do more than the two free trips each week. There is so much fun and neat things to do and you will burn through money quickly. You will also want to eat out a few times because you will get tired of the free food at the hotel after a week probably. There are tons of people selling little things like /trinkets/hand-crafted items and for some reason you just have to buy from them and a lot of the stuff is actually pretty neat. Most of the clubs are around $40 to get in and since you are in CancĂșn you have to go to CoCo Bongo's and Senor Frogs. They are a must for anyone visiting. They are right also when they say if you take a credit/atm/debit card let your bank know because they will cut it off if they see a lot of transactions from out of the country. All in all though I would say take at least $1000 if you can afford it. I mad a mistake my first time there and took $300 for myself for one week and I blew through that in about three days and I had an all-inclusive resort also. One day me and my buddy rode sea-doos out in the Caribbean ocean and snorkeled and then went back to the hotel and got wasted then he passed out and I ordered a pizza...that right there was a $100 day. Naturally the more you take the better, but for two people I would take at least $1000. Good Luck and you will have the time of your life...CancĂșn rocks!!!

I'd take about $200 in dollars, and then use your ATM card to get pesos at the ATMs in Cancun as you need the money. If you do this, it's a good idea to tell your bank to put a note in you file letting everyone know that if they see transactions coming from Mexico that it's you on vacation.

Karen
It all depends. If you are staying at an all inclusive resort, you need barely nothing. Are you big drinkers? The prices of food in Cancun are not that cheap at all. When I go on vacation, I always allow myself 100 dollars a day. That should cover your meals and drinks . Now if you wanna scuba dive, or swim with some dolphins, then you better bring a credit card!!!!!!!

$35 to $40 for Coco Bongo I would bring 600.US 6000Pesos

It depends on the hotel that you will stay:

For All-Inclusive hotels, you donÂŽt need much. If you go out, about $200 pesos (US$ 20) per person, per day.

All other hotels: then consider taxi cabs (or maybe rent a car, small cars start at $600 pesos per day plus insurance), dinning out, and other expenses, consider between $400 & $600 pesos per person, per day.

For alternative transportation you can also use public buses, they are clean and inexpensive, about $5 pesos (US$ 0.50 cnts.) per person.

If you plan on going to "Playa del Carmen", then add up some more money to your daily expenses, but a good alternative is to use the services of local travel agencies.

Have a nice vacation in Cancun, is sooo beautiful!

Don't bother exchanging USD into pesos in the US.
Take about 100 USD and take what you need in pesos from the Bank machines in Cancun - best rates.

THE COST OF CLUBS IS GOING TO ME 30.00 TO 40.00 PER PERSON. THAT IS USD. YOU WILL NEED MONEY FOR TRANSPORTATION.....TAXI OR BUS. TAXI WILL VARI......BUS IS .65 CENTS PER PERSON. YOU WILL NEED 100.00 PER PERSON PER DAY IF YOU DO ANYTHING AT ALL. THE EXCURSIONS RUN CLOSE TO 100.00 EACH DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU PICK TO DO. SOME ARE MORE THAN THAT. YOU WILL NEED TO NOTIFY YOUR BANK IF YOU PLAN TO BRING DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE TRAVELING OUTSIDE THE US. OTHERWISE...THEY MIGHT PUT A BLOCK ON YOUR CARD.....USUALLY DO. GO TO WWW.CANCUN.COM AND CHECK OUT THE EXCURSIONS AND THE PRICES. THIS WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA ABOUT THAT COST. THE CLUBS ARE GENERALLY 40.00 PER PERSON. YOU WILL NOT NEED PESOS FOR THIS....THEY TAKE USD AND CANADIAN MONEY AS WELL. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.......WHERE YOU WANT TO GO......HOW MUCH YOU WILL BE AWAY FROM THE RESORT......AND HAVE A BACK UP NO MATTER WHAT. DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR LOSS OF CASH. DO NOT CARRY LOTS OF MONEY AROUND WITH YOU AND STORE YOUR CASH IN VARIOUS PLACES.....PREFERABLY A LOCK BOX IN THE HOTEL. ANYWAY.......I WOULD BRING A MINIMUM OF 1000.00 IN CASH IF IF IT WAS ME.
