Puerto Vallarta!
You can rent a condo starting at $500, there are plenty of Americans and Canadians here (in the thousands) and you can go as modern or rustic as you want when it comes to lifestyle.
If you want to feel like you're living in California, look for a place around the hotel zone or marina where you can be amidst luxury resorts and overlook million dollar yachts.
Or, you can get the traditional feel of Mexico in Old Town Vallarta. Shop where the locals shop in Pitillal, eat traditional foods, and meet the locals.
We have gorgeous beaches, tranquil lagoons, rainforests, plenty of watersports and activities, nightlife that ranges from salsa dance clubs to elegant lounges. Eat shrimp tacos for pennies, or dine at a 4 star on the beach. I've been here for years now and absolutely love it! I'm moving to Cabo now, but I know I'll be back eventually! |

Hola!!
I'm mexican
I recommend you "CUERNAVACA" The city is midst of Mexico city and acapulco, It is very quiet and safe and has many tourist attractions, It's very communicated and has a good climate (is the city of eternal spring) It never makes cold and filled with aquatic parks, The people are very friendly and warm.
Have a lot of colonial architecture and ancient Aztec and is full of culture, and there's always something to discover.
Cuernavaca is the preferred destination for people from mexico city and many foreigners.
It is simple and is not expensive so I recommend that city |

Depends on what you want, but check out San Miguel de allende in the state of Guanajuato, Cuernavaca in the state of Morelos,or maybe a bigger and friendly city like Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco. |

Morelia for sure. There isn't enough here to go over the reasons why Morelia is the perfect destination. Here are a couple of videos to give you an idea.
I have many contacts there if you need help with anything. |
