Grand Oasis Viva Beach.. Good Place?

8 adults 3 kids - including me as a kid are thinking of staying at the hotel. I've heard of many reviews- good and bad, but we are still not sure. Does anyone know about this place or stayed here before.. Oh by the way this is in Cancun by Playa De Carmen

Oasis Viva is a good resort, but it is a smaller resort. The water is calmer on that side of the beach so it is better for younger kids to swim. Not very big waves and no strong undertows. I would also recommend RIU Cancun.....it is a bigger resort and on the same beach side.....calmer water. Oasis Palm Beach is another good choice. Oasis Viva is within walking distance to many restaurants, party center, and Coral Beach flea market. I think you will be pleased with the Oasis Viva. Keep in mind...it is not the Ritz Carlton, but it is a good place. The pool area there is kinda small.

For the best advice call 1-888-862-3806. The Mexico Experts, they are in Cancun and can arrange everything.

I would suggest Crown Paradise hotel for kids and families. We have stayed in 4 other resorts in Cancun and three in Puerto Vallarta. Crown is by far the funnest, best value for the money. The activities for adults and kids are great and the restaurants good. They also have good rooms and some family suites w/ bunk beds. The staff is the best compared all the resorts. We are going to The grand OAsis in June with another couple, but I think with the reviews that we would be happier at the Crown. Also Palya del Carmen is over a hour south of cancun but you can get the boat to Cozumel from there. Hope this helps, have fun!

Oasis Viva is in a better location than the other Oasis resorts. Recently there was construction as they were remodelling, hence the change to Grand Oasis Viva Beach. In fact, all the Oasis resorts in the Cancun area have been receiving face lifts of sorts. Still, I would recommend Viva over the other Oasis hotels in the Hotel Zone.

To answer your other question, Cancun is 45 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. Playa, as many call it for short, is in an area known as the Mayan Riviera. The Hotel Zone has more to offer as far as entertainment, however, if you plan to stay on the resort grounds most of the time, then you may wish to explore other areas aside from Cancun's Hotel Zone. The same tours are available in Riviera Maya as well, however, you may want to stay in the Hotel Zone for the options.

Have fun planning your vacation in paradise,
