Yes you will have a fun time.
You should not be drinking at 17.
Take the same precautions about personal and property security and safety that you do at home. i.e. do not go out alone, especially if you have been drinking, after dark. AND do not fall in love with a local especially if you are drinking!

July is HOT and HUMID in MAZ. The Mazetlecos head for the hills (mountains) in July and August. You should be OK because you are probably staying in air condtioned hotel.

Mazatlan is REALLLY nice
especially the strip of really nice hotels
and having the opportunity of tanning facing the pacific ocean
while merchant sellers come around to sell you their products
I went at 17, and i had no problem with getting alcohol.
Ask, and you shall receive.

In order to legally drink in Mexico you must be 18 years of age. Some bars do not allow underage people to enter, others do. I have lived in Mazatlan for 12 years and enjoy the weather and the people. It is an interesting town. July is not the greatest month to visit weather wise but if you like it hot you will enjoy it.

Im going to Mazatlan in july too, my grandparents and parents are from there. I love Maza. As far as drinking their is no problem with you being underage... I've been buying beer in Maza ever since i was 15, im 21 now so i can buy beer in California too. You should really be exited about going to mazatlan because is a beautiful and fun place. Have Fun!

omg yes its mazatlannnn u should be happy ok . the loser on the bottom .. ok forget him .. the cops wont do anything just member to take etra money so u can pay them in case u get cought .. lol sad but true thats all they want .. trust me it happend to me already i live in dallas and i go to mazatlan every may. there is a store by the ocean were u can by ur beer or wine .. salvia,weed,cain,lsd,crack,etc. u should try it and go jump in the ocean trust me it a blast . hope this helped any more ? write me

Why in the world , AT YOUR AGE WOULD YOU WANT TO DO ALCOHOL?
The legal age is 18.
I know and have drank with a number of police officers in my time in Mexico and believe me they like nothing better than to see an up and coming woman sowing her oats.
If you lose it as a result of drinking then yes, your butt will end up in jail.
One of the "Preventivas" was over to our place after work for more than a few.
I was awakened in the morning by this cop Friend of ours by"oye vecino has visto mi pistola" Well he , for some reason left his unloaded gun on the porch.
I have too many unbelievable stories and by the way Mexicans made me love them and they are by far and away the best bunch of people on the planet.
