Puerto Vallarta was the last city of 4 on my trip.
By this time I was nearly broke, so haggling was my style. You CAN drink the water and they ain't lyin bout the sun block. I went to swat a fly away from my shoulder and whisked away my SKIN!
They givin the Margueritas away.(<<<<this is NOT GOOD)The steak was PHENOMENAL. (no dog meat here) and people spoke a LOT more English then in other cities.
Enjoy the hotels (mine had a tub shaped like a big seashell).
Learn some Spanish. This goes a looooong way!

And watch out for them Mexican Men! They SLICK!

was there last june and had a great time. soon as you go thru the doors at the airport after you get your luggage , watch out for the people trying to con you into checking out their time shares. i knw the people mean well, but it got a little old with the peddlers on the beach trying to sell you stuff.it didn't seem hot, but it is pretty hot there. take a lot of ones cuz they are nice for tipping when you go downtown and etc. we didn't go to the clubs so i can't comment on that, but i knwo there are a lot of them. our hotel offered a party bus that for a certain amount they took you from bar to bar late at night. overall it seemed like a pretty safe place to ventur out on.very interesting stores to say the least!!! a lot of the souviners are extremely cheap which is great. hope you have a great time!!!

The other March I was there for a week. Had a great time. We stayed and the North start of the Boardwalk in Hotel Rosita. An older Mexican run place not real fancy but right on the water. The boardwalk is great you can walk for a couple miles seeing Street Entertainment Day and Night. Pirate Ship at night has Fireworks. Lots of places to eat and drink. You can take a tour partly Thur the city where you can see Liz Taylor's old house & Richard Burton's across the street connected via a walking bridge and ending up at the set of Predator where Arnold Schwartzingger directed and stared eat and drink along side a pretty mountain stream and if your up for it go repelling across the valley. The El Panaroma Restuarant is the Building up on the Hill Great for Sunset Dinners Over looking the bay and City. Lots to do have fun....

Guess what,
I'm going in September!!

Puerto Vallarta is absolutely gorgeous!! You will love it.

I went to Puerto Vallarta Thanksgiving week of 2005 and it was still extremely hot! I was on a cruise so we were only in Pureto Vallarta for a few hours.

Make sure you go to Chico's Paradise, it is a great little restaurant out in the jungle and they make the strongest margaritas I have ever had in my life. The food there was also very good.

Recently I have been looking into some all inclusive resorts because I would love to go back to Pureto Vallarta and stay there for about a week, it is gorgeous!!

Have a great time, September is only a few months away!

Was there in Oct. 2005. Actually stayed in Nuevo Vallarta (north of PV), but same difference. Prepare for it to be hot - not necessarily unenjoyable, but just prepare for that mentally and clothes-wise. And watch out for the time-share vendors - they are everywhere and some of them come in unexpected packages; just don't accept any offers of "free money/lunch/taxi/overnight stay", whatever they offer in exchange for the presentation. They will say you don't have to buy anything - and they are right. But, the pressure will be pretty high. Personally, I accepted one offer, knowing I wouldn't/couldn't buy, and it worked out in the end for me - a 3-4 hour presentation for which I got a very nice buffet breakfast, and 15% off my bill at the end of my stay at my resort; but I wouldn't wish the overall experience of the sales pitch on my worst enemy ... okay, maybe I would on my worst enemy. Anyway, if you want the reward at the end, and can put up with the pressure, then go for it. But, if you don't watch out, suddenly there won't be any time to enjoy your trip.

Could provide more advice, but it depends on whether you are staying in a condo or a hotel, and what part of PV you are staying in.

First don't forget your passport! If you want to buy some gifts there, bargining is the way to go. You can get some great deals! Make sure to bring small bills for tipping, they come in very handy and taking out money from an atm in Mexico will cost you around 7-8 US dollars!
Plan to eat your dinners late, around 7 or 8 pm because it tends to be cooler outside and it's much more comfortable. And don't forget the sunblock!
