Has any U.S. citizen traveled 2 Mexico since the whole flexibility of traveling without a passport anouncement

Im traveling to Mexico soon and I havent recieved my passport yet. I was wondering if anyone knows the entry/exit requirements into Mexico without a passport. I dont have another certified Birth Certificate, due to the fact I sent it in with my passport application. I dont know how to get another one since I was born Abroad on a US military base. I have a photocopy and a certified voter's registration card, is that enough show to get into Mexico?

You have to have your passport no exceptions last I heard.

You got several answers that are absolutely WRONG...given by people who have done NO research and evidently can't READ...as you see I am tired of these people. If you are leaving soon and it looks like your passport is not coming in time...here is what you need to do. First, you must have the RECEIPT they gave you for your application...you can get a copy of it on line if necessary. Then you need to go to the web page I have listed below and FOLLOW the directions. You definetly CAN use the FLEXIBILITY program. It is spelled out in detail...just read and follow. Scroll down to where it says, "How does this affect me?" I wish you good luck in all this!!

If you are driving or walking into Mexico then they don't even ask for ID when you go INTO Mexico and when you come back to the U.S. Passports are not required and won't be for another 6 or 8 months so an photo ID will work.

If you FLY into the U.S. you will need a Passport

If you are traveling to Mexico by car or sea, you don't need you passport until January 2008. Your driver's license should be enough. A copy of your birth certificate wouldn't hurt either.

If you're traveling by plane.....so sorry charlie, you're out of luck....a passport is required for entry by plane, no exceptions.

I believe there is no flexibility. You need a passport, no exceptions. I saw on the news that people weren't even allowed on planes to Mexico without passports.
