I used to live in Fort Walton Beach--next to Destin. Destin is a great fishing resort and if killing time fishing or just laying on the beach during the day is what you want--you got it !!! The extra money and the hassle of Cancun--and the robberies on the beach and the side streets----I would take the Florida panhandle anyday !! There are a couple of extra benefits--american food and safe drinking water--easy travel to Pensicola and Panama City--more nice stuff to do there too. Jail in Mexico is deadly---the cops in Florida are nice--if you are not a jerk. Don't overdo the drinking---if the sun is out and it is hot---your drinking will cause you to sleep almost one whole day--what a waste of money that is. Be careful driving and parking--and have your license and registration and insurance card with you--Florida impounds cars---you do not get them back for drugs in the car--alcohol--no proof of insurance--and selected other crimes. So if you are driving--be smart... Just have safe mature fun. Cancun is never going to advertise the deaths, rapes, thefts, and arrests that have happened to thousands of people--and the crooked cops are no fun to deal with--you are in MEXICO--what are you going to do about a problem?? They will kick your butt--and you can't do a thing--STAY IN THE USA.... Have fun |

It's not exactly like Cancun, really. Not as many good-looking people, honestly.
But the weather should be about the same during summer. |

Yes, I have. Never been to Cancun, but the beaches are nice. Its another one of those tourist trap towns, so everything is way expensive. Its worth a small visit. Panama City is a couple hours east, and it has a lot more to do there, and its a party spot. Have fun |

If you don't have too much money stay at Forida, if you can pay it, go to Cancun. |
